From Thursday 8th Oct – Sunday 11th Oct. a group of 50 students and 5 teachers from Nenagh College embarked on a 4 day trip of a lifetime to the most visited city in the world, Paris. They visited some of the most famous sites in Paris including the Arch de Triumph, Champs Elysees, Louvre, Disneyland and the Eiffel Tower. It was an hugely enjoyable experience and not one to be forgotten any time soon!

Nenagh College Leaving Cert Applied
For the first time in it’s history Nenagh College welcomed the first group of Leaving Certificate Applied Students. The Leaving Certificate Applied is a two year Leaving Certificate available to students who wish to follow a practical programme with a strong practical and vocational emphasis. Nenagh College now offers all of the three Leaving Certificate Programmes offered by the Department of Education and Skills. This is another step in fulfilling our mission statement – “To educate all students for their personal development and for the good of the community”.

Big Brother/Big Sister
In March, the Big Brother/Big Sister programme saw the 5th and 6th Year Mentors, together with their teachers, Ms. Ni Chofaigh, Ms. Duffy and Ms. Maharaj accompany the 1st Year Mentees to Foroige in Nenagh Town Hall. They were met by Brid Canny, youth worker, who generously welcomed the students to take part in different activities in the club that ranged from table tennis to air hockey, board games, pool and the Xbox. Thank you Foroige!
On April 16th the group visited Nenagh Courthouse and learned about the day-to-day events at the courthouse and also the history of the building and its significance for the local area. They were accompanied by Ms. Nà Chofaigh and Ms. Maharaj.
Scifest@school
Second year science students will represent Nenagh College at the regional Scifest competition in LIT Thurles on Thursday 30th April.
Two groups from each of the three second year science classes qualified for a place at the finals – from Ms. Ni Chofaigh’s class: Daragh O’Brien, Jack Stapleton, Michael Ryan, Alanis Walsh and Sarah O’Connor, from Ms. Dempsey’s class: Rachel Collins, Fiona Cleary-Clarke, Eva Clarke, Darragh Geaney and David Brady, and from Ms. Dillon’s class: Victoria Mulqueen, Chloe Kenneally, Natasha Norton, Chloe Madden and Cailin McDonnell
Students investigated a wide variety of subjects including natural dyes in plants, the efficiency of microwave popcorn, turning milk into plastic and how the brain memorises numbers. The six projects selected to represent Nenagh are: The effect of music on heart rate and blood pressure, Which cheese grows mould faster?, What washing powder works the best?, Home-made beauty, Bubble-ology and Cabbage Chemistry.

Leaving Certificate student, Eddy Ryan won first place at the LIT Engineering Week for Future Engineers
Nenagh College student, Eddy Ryan (Sixth Year),  being presented with 1st place at LIT Engineering Week for Future Engineers. He was one of 200 students who took part in the competition from the Munster region. Eddy is pictured with his Engineering teacher, Mr. Heffernan, Competition Co-ordinator, Mr Peadar Heenan and Mr. Kennedy, an Engineering teacher in Nenagh College.
Aviva Fitness Challenge
On Thursday 5th March, Nenagh College brought its Aviva Fitness Challenge to a close with a fantastic workshop hosted by our Sports and Recreation (QQI Level 5) class . The PLC students coached our second level students in a wide range of exercises, including circuit training and relay races. This was a wonderful conclusion to a fun and fit six weeks, which was kick started by UL personal trainer, Jason Walshe. A special thanks to Mr. Shrahan, Ms. Heffernan, Ms. Carey and Ms. Egan. Well done to all involved!
