Agricultural Science at Nenagh College

As part of their grassland study, students from Nenagh College’s 5th Year Agricultural science class visited James Kennedy’s farm in Nenagh. It was a fantastic visit and enjoyed by all. Many thanks to James and Michael Hogan in Teagasc for organising the event.

LCA Bialann 2016

Congratulations to our Leaving Cert Applied students who prepared and served a scrumptious 4 course lunch to the teaching staff at Nenagh College. From starters such as vegetable soup or chicken vol-au-vents, main course of chicken curry or shepherds pie and dessert with toblerone cheesecake or apple crumble and home-made ice cream. There was a mouth watering array of choices available. Thank you to all involved.

County Enterprise Competition

Well Done to our Ty students with their companies “Canter” and “Reflective” who represented Nenagh College admirably in the  Senior Category of  the County Enterprise Competition in LIT Thurles on March 4th, along with 2nd year student Denise Cullagh with her company “Mr Sock Man” in the Intermediate category.

Congratulations to all involved for excellent products and presentations.

Thomas F. Meagher State Flag Presentation Ceremony

On Monday 7th March, Nenagh College Students, Emma Carey, Natasha O’Brien, Jason Dwan, Kia Hynes and their teacher Mr. Cox travelled to Croke Park to attend the Thomas F. Meagher State Flag Presentation Ceremony.

The event itself was hosted by Late Late Show presenter Ryan Tubridy. In attendance for the ceremony was special guest of honour President Michael D. Higgins.

Nenagh College Student Jason Dwan can be spotted on Monday 7th March’s RTE Six one Evening News.

The main goal of the Thomas F. Meagher Foundation was to promote pride and respect for the Irish flag and its meaning for peace by encouraging active citizenship through schools awards and scholarships. The Thomas F. Meagher Foundation aims to promote pride in and respect for the Irish Flag and its true meaning of peace on this Island.

SciFest 2016

Scifest@school was held in Nenagh College on Tuesday 2nd March. The aim of this science fair is to encourage a love of science, technology and maths through active, collaborative, inquiry-based learning and to provide a forum for students at local, regional and national level to present and display their scientific investigations.

Eight projects will represent Nenagh College in LIT Thurles 4th May Music and the Brain by Thyra Burke and Thomas Galvin, No taste without Saliva by Eva Lawlor and Rebecca Kenneally,  Testing juices for vitamin C content by Allanah Dunne, Denise Cullagh and Joseph Donnelan, Crisp taste test by Sandra Boland and Leah Gleeson, Evaporation of liquids by Joe Kitson, Kieran O Connor and Johnny Hogan, Freshest Flowers by Emily Donnellan,  Dry Eye Syndrome by Aaron Reilly and Adam Fitzgerald and investigating the speed of light using chocolate by Katelyn Ryan and Leanne Ryan

Nenagh College Fashion Show Thursday 10th March

There will be a Transition year Fashion Show on Thursday 10th March. All Proceeds in aid of Nenagh Horse Riding for the Disabled.

Tickets are 3 euros for Students and 5 euros for Adults. All Children under 16 years of age must be accompanied by an adult.

Doors open at 7.00 pm and the Fashion Show will begin at 7.30 pm.

Please come and support this local charity and all of the local shops who are kindly donating clothes for the night

Nifty Fifty Winner James Noonan

Big Congratulations to first year student James Noonan who won Nenagh College Nifty Fifty Draw for February 2016. Our Nifty Fifty draw is organised by our Transition Year Student where a one euro ticket puts you in the draw to win fifty euros.

Advice for Leaving Certificate Subject Choice

When you are considering which subjects to take for the Leaving Cert, bear in mind that this decision will impact on certain university courses. To gain admission to certain courses require a compulsory subject to be taken to Leaving Cert level and a prescribed minimum grade be achieved. This compulsory subject or subjects is required in addition to achieving the required points as set out in the CAO.

First Year Handball
