Miss Carey’s second year CSPE class organised a project to collect money for Crumlin Children Hospital. There were two fundraisers held. Starting with a soccer blitz in which each person participating would have to contribute €2. There was also a sweet jar competition where students had to pay 50c for 3 attempts to guess how many sweets were in a jar.
There were events committee, finance committee, permission group, raffle group and the advertising committee. Each of these groups contributed a large amount to the project.
Miss Carey’s HCT class contributed €100 from a restaurant event they held.
In total €450 was raised for the Children’s Hospital. The class would like to thank everyone who contributed to the fund.
Nenagh College would like to thank all the organisers and participants of the Darkness into Light 5K walk that took place on Saturday 7th May at 4.15am. It was a fantastic experience for everyone involved. All proceeds were in aid of Pieta House.

Congratulations to all of the second year students who competed in the SPHE Drug and Addiction Awareness Presentations. Students were given the task of researching and presenting on many of the different kinds of illegal substances.

All of the staff and students at Nenagh College would like to thank Ms. Sherry for their wonderful year of studying Chinese. From Tai Chi, calligraphy and language classes, our students were delighted to experience a new culture. The Easter Shanghai Camp was a once in a lifetime opportunity offered to three of our transition year students, Marley Delaney, Ciara McDonnell and Lauren Moylan. They were accompanied by Ms. Madden Murphy on their 2 week trip to China. Nenagh College would like to thank Ms. Sherry and the Confucius Institute in Cork for providing our students an opportunity to study Chinese language and culture.
Transition Year student, Nicole Byers Ryan, was the recipient of a Youth Garda Award at a ceremony that took place in the Garda Training College in Templemore on Wednesday 27th April. This award was open to nominees between the ages of 13 and 19 years of age, to acknowledge the efforts they made in making their communities a better place to live in or who have shown great determination in their own lives.
The judging panel consisted of former Tipperary hurler Brendan Cummins, Thurles born Una (Healy) Foden (of ‘The Saturday’s’ & ‘The Voice’) and Circuit Court judge Mr. Gerard O’Brien.
Nenagh college girls soccer team would like to thank Rachel Canning and Leanne Gleeson fifth year art students who designed signage at Steeples Cafe in Nenagh. Thanks to these students we were able to purchase a set of soccer jerseys for our U15 soccer team. We are grateful for the opportunity to work with our community and welcome any further signage requested by Nenagh retailers.

Current students, under the direction of their music teacher, Ms. Kay Tierney, provided entertainment for the gathering before the formal occasion got under way.
Nenagh has been added to Cashel, Roscrea, Killaloe and Ballina as a host town in Tipperary for the Darkness into Light walk 2016.
The walkers will set out from Nenagh College @ 4.15 a.m on Saturday 7th.
CEO of Pieta House, Ms. Joan Freeman officially launched to 2016 walk  in Nenagh College on Thursday 21st April. She congratulated all in the school community on the organisation  of the event and was overwhelmed by the welcome she received from the staff and students. She outlined the wonderful work being done by Pieta House, an organisation that she founded following a personal tragedy a number of years ago.
Ms. Freeman acknowledged the global growth of the organisation which began in Phoenix Park, Dublin with a few walkers to an a event which is held all over the world from Taiwan to San Francisco and Nenagh!!
Catherine O Keeffe, Chairperson of the Nenagh Committee outlined how delighted she was that the walk had come to Nenagh and particularly Nenagh College. It’s organisation was a wonderful example of the spirit of volunteerism in the school and in the wider community with a number of local sporting organisations offering their services for the walk. She continued to talk about the wonderful experience her Amber Flag committee had in completing the walk in Ballina in 2015 and the experience of gaining the Amber Flag for the school around the same time.
Everybody at Nenagh College is looking forward to hosting the event.
