It’s that time of year again when students in 3rd Year and Transition Year are making choices about senior cycle programme and subject choices. On Thursday 22nd of February, Â Parents & Guardians attended an information evening in school and on Friday the 23rd of February all Transition Year and 3rd Year students were presented with an in-depth insight into the senior cycle subjects and programmes on offer. These sessions have proven to be very beneficial to students choosing their subjects for the senior cycle. Thanks everyone who were involved from the set up to the presentations. Thank you to the parents and students for their attendance. It has really proven to be of huge benefit to both students and their parents and guardians.

Take 1 Programme
Nenagh College in partnership with Tipperary ETB’s Take 1 Programme Director, Valerie Lewis, have been working on exploring and embedding the Take 1 programme in our school.
The Take 1 programme looks at the internationally agreed 17 Sustainable Development Goals and aims to promote these among the school community.
As part of this, the staff of Nenagh College participated enthusiastically in a whole school CPD with Valerie on January 17th last. Following this, teachers and students explored the 17 Sustainable Development Goals during Nenagh College’s Take 1 week from January 23rd to 26th. During their classes that week, teachers linked these SDG’s to their various subject areas, thus displaying to students across their whole curriculum the themes of each SDG.
Ms. Egan’s first year Geography class have been studying about primary economic activities the past few weeks. During Take 1 week they made posters, making the connection between their studies (natural resources, farming, fishing, forestry and sustainable exploitation) and the UN Sustainable Development Goals
Ms. Powell’s first Year Wood Technology students explored characteristics of deciduous/coniferous tress, discussing about climate, native trees in Ireland and about sustainable forestry making links to Sustainable Development Goals.
Classroom photos of work done on Sustainable Development Goals for Take One Week 2024 during Ms. O’ Keefe’s third year SPHE class. They were exploring Sustainable Development Goal 3 which is Achieving universal health and wellbeing.
