Munster Olympic Handball Competition

On Wednesday, we brought 4 teams all the way down to Neptune Stadium in Cork City to compete in a Munster Olympic Handball competition. A total of 46 students travelled and represented the school brilliantly.
In the juvenile girl’s competition, the girls were in hard luck narrowly losing two group games and unfortunately didn’t make it to the finals.
The boy’s juvenile team came second in the group stages and competed in the final as a result. They came up against a strong St Brendan’s who won out 5-2 but were unlucky to concede two late goals.
The boy’s junior team faired similarly as they also came second in their group and again faced reigning All Ireland champions, St Breandan’s. The boys put up a great fight and even took a 3-2 lead early in the second half before St Brendan’s finished strong to win out 6-3.
Finally, our junior girls team went undefeated and topped their group. They faced St Aloysius’ College in the final where they were victorious on a scoreline of 3-1 to be crowned Munster champions.
All in all, our juvenile and junior boys were crowned runners up in all of Munster while our junior girls are now Munster champions!!!
Well done to all students who travelled and completed today and best of luck to our junior girls who will go on to compete in the All-Ireland stage

1A Science class

Our 1A Science class were busy creating Flowers using chromatography.

Flower chromatography is a fun and educational experiment that demonstrates the process of chromatography, which is used to separate mixtures into their individual components. In this activity, you use materials like coffee filters, water-based markers, and water to create colorful patterns that resemble flowers.

Fun Day Success at Nenagh College!

What an amazing day of laughter, teamwork, and excitement! 🎉 Our students had an absolute blast enjoying games and sports, including tug of war, soccer, an inflatable obstacle course, and even a bucking bronco challenge! 🤩
The spirit of fun and camaraderie was truly inspiring—thank you to everyone who participated and made the day unforgettable! 🙌

University of Galway & Technological University of The Shannon

As the CAO process beings for 2025, preparation is underway for senior cycle students to do their research into what courses are available in the various Higher Education Institutions.
Thanks to our colleagues Deirdre McGreevey from the University of Galway and Ann McBride from Technological University of The Shannon TUS for taking the time to come into Nenagh College to help students make informed decisions about their course choices.

Taibhdhearc Theatre

Today our Transition Year and 6th Year Irish class went to the Taibhdhearc Theatre in Galway to see the play ‘An Triail’.  This play is on the leaving Certificate Irish course. An Triail is a pivotal play in modern Irish literature, written by Máiréad Ní Ghráda and first performed in 1964. The play is set in the 1960s and explores deeply societal themes such as the treatment of women, hypocrisy, and the harsh realities faced by unwed mothers in conservative Irish society.  Bhí  an dráma ar fheabhas agus chuir le tuiscint an dráma. Is deas é a fheiceáil beo ar an stáitse.

U19 Boys Soccer

Well done to our u19 boys soccer team who beat a strong Borrisoleigh side on Monday. The lads were unlucky to be trailing 4-0 at half time but staged an incredible comeback to win 5-4 in the end. Scorers were Aaron Cusack (3), Brian Rohan and Cullin O’Brien.

4th Class meets 4th Year!

Nenagh College TY Students invited 4th class students from Nenagh Community National School to learn French. Over 4 weeks the TY students prepared and delivered classes, teaching them Halloween phrases, how to count to 20 and sing Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes in French, finishing off with fun facts about the Eiffel Tower and showing them how to build their very own model with spaghetti and marshmallows!
Lots of fun and learning took place while building friendships and connections between our schools. The TY students thoroughly enjoyed the project and had the opportunity to see what a career in primary school teaching is like.
The 4th class students really enjoyed the experience of learning a new language, getting to observe what secondary school is like and getting a feel for what TY is all about and what they can look forward to in the future.
We are looking forward to inviting them back in January for some more French Classes.
