ETB Ethos Week

An exciting programme of events is underway in Nenagh College to mark ETB Ethos Week. Today, all classes took time out to reflect on the core value of Community and how it is lived out in the school. First and second year students joined together in the canteen to enjoy a free sausage roll at break time.

French Trip Day 4

We finished off our trip with a stop in Brussels where we visited the European Parliament along with some sights of the city centre and some last minute shopping before catching our flight home.

Well Done Hannah!

We are delighted to announce that sixth year student Hannah Grace has been awarded a scholarships in her chosen sport of handball at Minnesota State University, Mankato, USA. Hannah won the U17 USA Nationals last year and has been recruited to the four year scholarship programme in Minnesota. We wish Hannah all the best on this wonderful achievement.

Technology week continued at Nenagh college.

On Wednesday at lunchtime our VEX Robotics team had a demonstration in the gym. They showcased their excellent work preparing their robot for this year’s competition and allowed students who are not part of the team the opportunity to test their skills driving the robot.
Thursday at lunch was movie time in the engineering room. The room was open for students to come in a watch Big Hero 6 at lunch time.
Thursday afternoon the first years took part in two technology-based challenges in the sports all. First years used their school devices to complete an “Hour of Code” course on the topic of programming Artificial Intelligence. This was followed by an engineering challenge. Building the tallest tower out of spaghetti and tape.
A huge thanks to everyone who took part in our various workshops throughout the week and we are already planning bigger and better for next year.

French Trip Day 3

Our day started with a visit to a traditional French market in the seaside town Le Toquet. Our next stop was L’escargotière du Choquel where the students got up close and personal with the snails and those brave enough had the opportunity to taste the delicacy!
Our day finished with a crèpe making session.

Nenagh Courthouse Visit

This Monday, our second year CSPE groups, 2A and 2C, took on an enlightening trip to Nenagh Courthouse. The students were treated to a remarkably informative tour, delving into the historical significance and the judicial role that this facility plays within the community.

Following the tour, we were fortunate to utilize the courthouse facilities for a mock trial, serving as our action project for CSPE. Amid what would typically be a solemn affair, we got to share a few laughs at our trip to the courts.

Many thanks to all at Nenagh courthouse for allowing us to view their facilities and to Michael Reynolds for the excellent tour.
