Junior Eurovision

In February 2017, Cailin Creamer, a first year student in Nenagh College, decided to enter the highly competitive Junior Eurovision.  This competition is sponsored by TG4 and seeks to find Ireland’s entry for Junior Eurovision.  The overall winner will travel to Georgia in November 2017 to compete against other European countries.

In the first heat, Cailin had to travel to Cork and sing two songs of her own choosing.  The judges really liked her voice and without hesitation put her through to Round 2.

Cailin was then faced with the task of composing and performing an original song in Irish. For this she enlisted the help and expertise of fellow students, teachers in school and musician friends – Denis Carey and Anthony Monaghan – to write an original song as Gaeilge.  With this task completed,  Cailin travelled to Dublin for her audition.  Again, the judges were impressed by what they heard.  Cailin quickly got a call telling her she was through to the live TV heats.

On Monday 15th May Cailin will take part in the first of the live competitive heats.  This will be recorded in RTE’s Donny brook studios to be broadcast at a later date.

We wish Cailin the very best of luck. We hope she enjoys the experience.  We are very proud of a most unassuming and highly talented young lady as she represents her school and parish.
