Nenagh College launches Darkness into Light walk 2016

Nenagh has been added to Cashel, Roscrea, Killaloe and Ballina as a host town in Tipperary for the Darkness into Light walk 2016.

The walkers will set out from Nenagh College @ 4.15 a.m on Saturday 7th.

CEO of Pieta House, Ms. Joan Freeman officially launched to 2016 walk  in Nenagh College on Thursday 21st April. She congratulated all in the school community on the organisation  of the event and was overwhelmed by the welcome she received from the staff and students. She outlined the wonderful work being done by Pieta House, an organisation that she founded following a personal tragedy a number of years ago.

Ms. Freeman acknowledged the global growth of the organisation which began in Phoenix Park, Dublin with a few walkers to an a event which is held all over the world from Taiwan to San Francisco and Nenagh!!

Catherine O Keeffe, Chairperson of the Nenagh Committee outlined how delighted she was that the walk had come to Nenagh and particularly Nenagh College. It’s organisation was a wonderful example of the spirit of volunteerism in the school and in the wider community with a number of local sporting organisations offering their services for the walk. She continued to talk about the wonderful experience her Amber Flag committee had in completing the walk in Ballina in 2015 and the experience of gaining the Amber Flag for the school around the same time.

Everybody at Nenagh College is looking forward to hosting the event.
