5th Year Engineering Trip to TUS Limerick

5th Year students took part in a  precision engineering workshop where they met former Nenagh College Student Patrick Richardson who is now a 3rd year student in Precision Engineering at TUS. The students received  a demonstration on a surface grinding machine  and were able to visit the TUS automotive workshop.
                                             

Transition Year group hosting Argentinian Students

On Friday 13th January, our Transition Year group had the pleasure of hosting a group of 22 Argentinian Student’s who are currently on a 4 Week Exchange from their home schools.
The morning began with a fantastic presentation from our visiting students covering all aspects of their country, culture and lifestyle in Argentina. The presentation concluded with our visitors teaching the TY group some of their traditional dances of celebration and festivals.
Nenagh College Trad Group then played a collection of songs for our visiting students to enjoy, followed by an Introduction to Hurling from Mr. Gratton with the afternoon finishing up with an Irish Stew lunch supplied by the Get Fresh Team in our Canteen. An educational and fun filled afternoon was enjoyed by all, we wish our visiting students all the best and a safe return home to Argentina.
                       

Irish Science Teachers Association Photo Competition on the Theme of Sustainability.

Science Students from 1st – 5th years entered the above competition on the theme of Sustainability and students were allowed to interpret the theme however they wished. There were a large number of entries from each year.  

Examples of entries include ‘How can I help save Plants and Trees’ entered by Mya Reddan, and ‘Growing your own Fruit and Vegetables’ entered by Filip Wiewiora, both 1st Year students.

Nenagh College Transition Year students receive Choose Safety – Young People at Work Certificates.

Nenagh College Transition Year students (September – December 2022) successfully completed a ‘Healthy & Safety Authority Choose Safety – Young People at Work Programme’.

The programme introduces senior cycle students to the principles of Workplace Safety and Health.

Each student received an individual Certificate of Completion in recognition of his/her increased understanding of Health and Safety at Work. Certificates were issued by Kilkenny Education Centre. Well done to all.

 

Our first year boys played in the Collins Cup competition against Coláiste Iósaef Community College Killmallock.

Our first-year boys were in action today in the first year Collins Cup competition against Coláiste Iósaef Community College Killmallock.
Nenagh started brightly taking the lead very early on with a well worked goal finished by Filip Wiewiora. Killmallock hit back with an equaliser shortly after.
As the first half was drawing to a close, killmallock struck another goal taking them in 2-1 up at the break.
Nenagh battled hard and in the dying, moments scored a fantastically worked equaliser finished by Bartosz Zelek. The game then headed for extra time.
In the first half of extra time Killmallock struck two goals in quick succession.
Nenagh pushed very hard and had some very good chances to try and claw themselves back into the game but couldn’t convert them.
The final score was 4-2. Well done to the first-year boys who represented the school superbly.
